Words are Incredibly Powerful
April, 2012
Sometimes in this world of "fast and easy" and "get rich quick" we can talk ourselves in and out of a positive attitude. As a coach I am so blessed to have a community of coach support when life throws me a curve ball. It's not a sign of weakness.  It doesn't lessen your capabilities.  Hearing "You're doing a great job!" from someone other than your self (or your mother) can be all it takes to make a positive SHIFT.  Outside support can take the doubtful thoughts and turn them into fleeting moments, rather than a philosophy you have to live by.
Don't let negative "self talk" rule you. When your inner voice is telling you "I can't", it's best to stop listening.
Some days we are only as brave or smart as our strongest supporter. So the next time you don't like your own "self-talk" change it!  Look in the mirror and say "I'm fanastic!". Pick up a phone, call your coach.
That's YOU taking control and getting yourself back on track. Knowing what you need and when you need it,
is positively powerful! And it's smart too!

May 2012: Gratefully Welcome the Day

Oh my! What a gorgeous day!
Knowing what my day was like you would wonder why I would say that. I woke up to a misty morning, after a night of torrential storms blowing through my yard, knocking down a twelve foot pine branch onto my roof. Did I sleep through it? Yep! Was I upset and worried about the damage? Of course. Again, why is it a gorgeous day?

We climbed up on the roof to find some damage, but fixable.
"Good" you say, but still not gorgeous?
While we strolled through the giant isles of home improvement paraphernalia, I heard the voice of a little boy screaming with excitement as he turned the corner running right towards me, followed by a frustrated mother chasing after him. I smiled that "oh, isn't he precious" smile. Then greeted the breathless mother with a "been there, done that" smile!
Then recognition clicked! I knew this frazzled woman!
It was Amy from high school! I hadn't saw her in ten years. I squealed her name, we chatted briefly, exchanged numbers and set a date for lunch! A lost friendship rekindled!
Without that storm, without that branch falling, without needing supplies, I wouldn't have been in that place, at that moment, to find my old new friend!

Life is one of those things, that when you think you have it all figured out and down to a science, it shifts. This can happen in an instant! Within seconds you can lose a loved one, or a job, devastated by a storm, or step in a mud puddle, but in that same moment something else is also happening. You just can't see it right away.
What's happening is change, a window is closed, and a door is opened.
In those same mili-seconds that you think the world is crashing down on you, or your day just couldn't get worse, a whole new world is being laid before you.
It's life in motion. Forever shifting.
You could find a better job, meet the person of your dreams, win the lottery, grow a stronger crop, learn a skill that spurs a new career, stumble on a great shoe sale or share a special smile that just makes the day worth waking up to!

Every event starts a chain reaction to get you to your next event! I call these events because this term has a certain dazzle or importance to it. With the feeling of hope in your heart you even the smallest shift bring excitement for what's to come.
We need to be grateful for each of these moments. Grateful for having a life that is changing for you, and giving you an opportunity to change with it.
Instead of dwelling on what hurt or pushed you down...  feel it, learn from it and move on. It's not easy, it takes practice, but it's worth it.

Say thank you and know this is your chance to create a new outcome. All of your experiences make you so unique and useful for what you are meant to experience next.
Next may be beyond your wildest imaginable conscious thoughts.....
it may even turn out to be a gorgeous day!

Enjoy the Shift!

Life is...

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is a sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.
